about

Temple of Artists is pleased to present this unique solo keyboard recording by composer/woodwind virtuosa Su Terry. It is her only commercial recording playing keys. The music was spontaneously composed in the basement of a remote Pennsylvania retreat by a wood stove during a harsh winter. It is meant to reflect one's inner journey while in solitude and contemplation.

These curious keyboard improvisations are designed to bring the listener on a journey within.

These spontaneous compositions are not "new age" insipid pieces that lack harmonic interest. Rather, the pieces use dissonance and resolution, surprising structures and cadences, and provocative textures to slow down Time and allow a kind of vertical perception of its depth. Normally we experience Time as an unfolding–moment by moment. Yet what the soul seeks is unification with Time in all its dimensions.

In the background, the pieces affect the listener on a subconscious level. In the foreground, they reward the active listener with a musical labyrinth that leads to self transformation.

The inspiration for this album comes from the famous Samuel Barber piece "Adagio for Strings", as well as from composers such as Arvo Pärt and Alan Hovhaness.

about

Temple of Artists Cuenca, Ecuador

The Temple of Artists label represents a collective of artists based in South America.

A group is more than the sum of its parts. In this respect they have been influenced by collectives such as the Kodo Drummers of Japan, the Guerilla Girls, and the performers of Cirque du Soleil.

The artists perform at the Master level, yet the ultimate aim is that of integration into the whole.
